Years of
Community
The Oron Development Union UK & Ireland traces its origins to 1991, when four distinguished Oron sons and daughters in London came together to establish the Oron Community Association. This founding group included Dr Hendrik Umana (Chair and Co-ordinator), Dr Ewa Oboho, Ms Eme Ndekhedehe, and Ms Comfort Okpo (of blessed memory).
In 1992, guided by the framework of the Oron Union constitution, the association developed its first formal constitution, laying the foundation for a structured and enduring organisation. Over the years, the union has continued to evolve in response to the needs of its members and the broader Oron community.
In July 2017, the organisation was formally renamed the Oron Development Union, reflecting a renewed focus on development, impact, and global engagement. The constitution was subsequently updated to align with this vision and to strengthen its governance framework.
