As one of the major events slated for the year 2021, the ODU picnic held in August, was also a refreshing and relaxing time for members. It was held immediately the covid restrictions were lifted to give members the opportunity to meet, mingle and celebrate one another. A planning committee made up of Atim Abrams, Nkoyo Edeke, Tina Bassey, Asuquo Okon and Kate Edeke was set up during the July general meeting to handle the outing.
The venue was the amazing Alexandra Palace Park London. It was a great success with over 20 ODU members and another 28 guests made up of families, friends and children. One of the highlights of the event was the family games. Kids were also engaged in a treasure hunt where lots of amazing prizes were won. There was plenty to eat and drink as members contributed varieties of food, drinks and snacks for the event. There was also an array of traditional delicacies like afang, iwe-expang and Iwuk-akam.
The gathering was charged with positivity each person fully loaded with the spirit of togetherness and appreciation for one another and with thanksgiving for God’s goodness in watching over us during the precarious months of the covid pandemic. Members of the planning committee also thanked everyone who attended the picnic and made it a success, they also appreciated those who helped to make it is success through their contribution.
